Picea abies 'Pumila'
Pumila Norway Spruce
Pumila Norway Spruce (Picea abies ‘Pumila’) is a compact evergreen with short, dark green needles and an orderly branching pattern. The branch tips angle upward and outward, creating a rounded mound with a firm, full texture.
Young plants look more rounded than many nest-type spruces, then broaden as they age. The steady green color gives a mixed border structure between flowering seasons. Its slow growth makes it useful where a substantial low conifer is wanted.
Grow in sun with moist, well-drained soil. Cool summers suit Norway spruce best; avoid waterlogged sites and prolonged drying while roots establish.
