Picea glauca 'Densata'
White Spruce
Black Hills Spruce (Picea glauca ‘Densata’) is a dense evergreen tree with a symmetrical, conical crown. Its needles range from bright green to blue-green, and the closely arranged branches give it a fuller outline than many ordinary white spruces.
Growth is relatively slow, but this is a tree that can become large with age. It is useful for a substantial screen, windbreak or individual specimen in a cold-climate landscape. Allow enough space for the lower branches to remain well lit.
Provide sun and consistent moisture while the plant establishes. Give the roots good drainage and allow space for continued growth.
