Picea orientalis 'Aureospicata'
Golden Oriental Spruce
Golden Oriental Spruce (Picea orientalis ‘Aureospicata’) produces yellow spring shoots that stand out against older dark green needles. As the new foliage matures, the contrast softens and the tree returns to a predominantly green appearance.
Its broad pyramidal outline and outward-arching lower branches become substantial with age. The spring color is best seen where the whole canopy is visible against a darker background. Give this cultivar space to develop as a specimen tree.
Use a well-drained site and water during establishment. Protect young plants from drying winter winds and excessive summer heat.
