Pinus densiflora 'Aurea'
Japanese Red Pine
Golden Japanese Red Pine (Pinus densiflora ‘Aurea’) changes the mood of the garden as the seasons turn. Its slender needles are yellow-green during summer, then become much more strongly golden in winter.
The plant develops a bushy, rounded framework rather than a narrow column. Give it a visible winter position, especially near darker evergreens, where the brighter needle color can stand out clearly.
Choose a sunny position with soil that drains freely. Water during establishment and leave enough room for the branches to develop without crowding.
