Pinus strobus 'Fastigiata'
Fastigiate White Pine
Pinus strobus ‘Fastigiata’
Fastigiata Eastern White Pine has long, fine blue-green needles on strongly ascending branches. The combination produces a tall evergreen with a softer texture than many other columnar trees.
Its upright habit reduces the ground space it occupies compared with ordinary white pine. It remains a vigorous tree and needs ample room overhead and space for its widening crown.
Choose a sunny site with moist, well-drained, acidic soil. Keep it away from road-salt spray and water regularly while the roots establish.
Approximate garden size
• Width: 12 ft; larger with age
• Height: 25 ft; larger with age
These are planning estimates for an established garden plant, commonly reached in 10–25 years, rather than final mature limits.

• Hardy to USDA Zone 3; local summer conditions also affect suitability.
