Pinus thunbergii Banshosho

Banshosho Black Pine

Banshosho Japanese Black Pine (Pinus thunbergii ‘Banshosho’) forms a rounded young plant with rich green needles. Growth is slow, and the framework eventually becomes taller than wide as it develops.

White buds add a clear contrast against the foliage during winter. Position it where those smaller details can be seen, and allow room for the young globe to take on a more upright shape.

Choose a sunny position with soil that drains freely. Water during establishment and leave enough room for the branches to develop without crowding.
