Polygonatum odoratum 'Variegatum'
Variegated Solomon's Seal
Variegated Solomon’s seal (Polygonatum odoratum ‘Variegatum’) brings a gentle arching outline to shaded plantings. Cream edging brightens its green leaves, while small, fragrant white flowers hang beneath the stems in late spring.
The stems gradually form a spreading colony that works well beneath open trees or among other woodland perennials. Yellow autumn foliage adds a final change of color before the top growth dies back.
Plant in partial to full shade in humus-rich, evenly moist soil. Allow room for the clump to expand slowly, and water during dry spells while the planting becomes established.
