Prunus lusitanica
Portugal Laurel
Portuguese laurel (Prunus lusitanica) makes a dense evergreen shrub or, with training, a small tree. Glossy leaves accompany fragrant white flower clusters in spring; dark ornamental fruits follow.
Its structure combines broad growth and dense branching. Growth is moderate. The foliage supplies a year-round framework.
Choose a site in full sun or partial shade. Provide well-drained soil. Allow extra headroom if training it as a tree.
