Pyrus calleryana 'Cleveland Select'

Cleveland Select Pear

Cleveland Select, also sold as Chanticleer, is a moderately growing ornamental pear with a narrow pyramidal crown. White spring flowers give way to glossy leaves that turn red to purple in autumn. Oregon State reports about 35 by 15 feet at 15 years; this is an age-specific observation, not a final mature size.

Provide sun and well-drained soil. Callery pear offspring can escape cultivation and become invasive. Its small, hard fruits are not dessert pears.
