An upright, spreading evergreen shrub that shows off striking, sweet-scented masses of rosy purple, pink or white flowers from early spring to mid spring. Leaves are dark green at the surface and rust-brown underneath. Barks are brown and become scaly. This striking variety is typically grows 8 ft tall at maturity and spread to 6 ft wide and form a rounded plant. Rhododendron carolinianum does well in dappled areas but tolerates moderate sunlight. It prefers organic rich, moist, acidic soil that drains well. It can be used for mass planting, mixed borders and foundations.
