Rudbeckia Prairie Sun
Prairie Sun Coneflower
Prairie Sun Black-eyed Susan (Rudbeckia hirta ‘Prairie Sun’) stands out for its green flower centers. A rich gold ring near the middle softens to yellow at the petal tips, creating a bright, two-tone daisy without the usual dark eye.
The plants grow upright on bristly stems and flower from midsummer into fall. Although classed as biennial, Prairie Sun is best planned as an annual display; cold, wet winters often prevent it from returning reliably.
Set out young plants after frost danger has passed. Give them a sunny or lightly shaded position and moisture-retentive soil with good drainage.
