Marcus Meadow Sage (Salvia nemorosa ‘Haeumanarc’) packs deep violet flowers into a low-growing perennial. The blooms rise on short, upright spikes, bringing the strong vertical shape of taller sages to a smaller space.
Narrow gray-green leaves have an aromatic quality and gather beneath the summer flowers. Its compact stature makes Marcus useful beside a path or near the front of a sunny border, where both foliage and flowers can be seen easily.
Choose a sunny position with reasonably fertile soil and good drainage. Light shade is tolerated, though stronger light generally supports better flowering.
