Acer × freemanii ‘Autumn Blaze’ is one of the most widely planted Freeman maples, valued for its rapid growth, strong branching, and spectacular fall color. A hybrid of red maple (Acer rubrum) and silver maple (Acer saccharinum), it combines the best traits of both parents while avoiding weak wood.

Leaves are deep green through summer, then turn brilliant shades of fiery red, orange-red, and scarlet in fall, often with consistent color across the entire canopy. The tree develops a uniform oval to rounded crown with a strong central leader and good wind resistance.

‘Autumn Blaze’ thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts to a wide range of soils, including clay and periodically wet sites. It tolerates heat, urban conditions, and pollution better than many maples. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8.
