Sequoiadendron giganteum Pendula
Weeping Giant Sequoia
Weeping giant sequoia (Sequoiadendron giganteum ‘Pendulum’) develops a tall, irregular outline with green foliage hanging in heavy curtains. The main trunk may rise, bend, and turn upward again, giving each tree a different silhouette.
The unusual framework makes a striking specimen where it can be viewed from several directions. Give the tree room for both continued height growth and unpredictable side branches rather than fixing its spacing to a perfectly narrow column.
Provide full sun, moist soil, and space for a large specimen. Moderate climates suit it best. Water during establishment; established trees tolerate some dry periods.
