Spirea x bumalda 'Limemound'
Limemound Spirea
Limemound Spirea (Spiraea japonica ‘Monhub’) develops a compact mound with leaves that emerge yellow and mature to lime green. Pink flower clusters appear from late spring through midsummer and attract bees and butterflies.
Red stems add a further color detail, and autumn leaves can turn yellow, orange, or red. Use it along a low border or in groups, checking for seedlings and suckering stems that extend beyond the intended planting.
Provide moist, fertile soil with good drainage in sun or partial shade. Prune in late winter or early spring, and remove faded flower clusters to encourage another flush.
