Styrax japonicus
Japanese Snowbell
Japanese snowbell (Styrax japonicus) suspends small white flowers beneath spreading branches. This deciduous tree develops a broadly rounded crown and is most effective where the hanging blossoms can be viewed from below.
Its structure combines broad growth and outward-spreading growth. Growth is moderate. The leaves are shed for winter. Autumn foliage can bring yellow and red tones.
Choose a site in full sun or partial shade. Provide acidic, well-drained soil and maintain even moisture. Do not allow the roots to dry out during hot weather.
