Syringa patula 'Miss Kim'
Miss Kim Lilac
Miss Kim Lilac (Syringa pubescens subsp. patula ‘Miss Kim’) opens purple buds into fragrant, pale purple flowers that lighten toward white as they age. Dark green leaves have gently wavy edges and can turn purple in fall.
Its bushy, spreading framework brings several seasons of interest to a shrub border. Place it where both the spring flowers and the later foliage color can be seen, with space for the branches to develop naturally.
Give it fertile soil that drains well and is neutral to alkaline. A sunny position supports the strongest flowering; water while the roots establish and mulch without burying the stems.
