Syringa vulgaris Beauty of Moscow
Beauty of Moscow Lilac
Beauty of Moscow Lilac (Syringa vulgaris ‘Krasavitsa Moskvy’) changes character as its buds open. Soft pink to pale purple buds give way to double white flowers, creating a layered spring display against pale to medium green leaves.
This becomes a substantial deciduous shrub or small tree, so allow space for its mature crown. A specimen setting or the back of a broad border gives the flower clusters room to show without crowding neighboring plants.
Give it fertile soil that drains well and is neutral to alkaline. A sunny position supports the strongest flowering; water while the roots establish and mulch without burying the stems.
