Syringa vulgaris Belle de Nancy
Belle de Nancy Lilac
Belle de Nancy Lilac (Syringa vulgaris ‘Belle de Nancy’) fills its branches with scented mauve-pink flower clusters in late spring and early summer. Heart-shaped green leaves give the shrub a familiar, softly textured background.
Growth is slow, but the mature plant still needs room to form a substantial flowering framework. It suits a sunny shrub border or a specimen position where the flowers can be enjoyed at close range.
Give it fertile soil that drains well and is neutral to alkaline. A sunny position supports the strongest flowering; water while the roots establish and mulch without burying the stems.
