Western redcedar (Thuja plicata) is a large evergreen with flattened sprays of foliage and a strongly tapered crown. It grows quickly in favorable conditions and needs ample moisture and room for its eventual scale.
Its structure combines a narrow, columnar outline and dense branching. Growth is moderate. The foliage supplies a year-round framework.
Choose a site in full sun or partial shade. Provide acidic, humus-rich, well-drained soil. Avoid drought and hot, humid sites.
