Virescens western red cedar (Thuja plicata ‘Virescens’) forms a tall, close pyramid with upward-reaching branches. Glossy dark green foliage holds its color through winter and creates a substantial evergreen background.
Its growth is narrower than that of the species but still develops significant width. Use it where a large screen or specimen can mature without repeated crowding or severe cutting.
Plant in sun or partial shade with moist, well-drained soil. Water consistently during establishment and allow enough room for the natural outline to develop.
