Amur Maple

Acer ginnala (Amur Maple) is a hardy, adaptable deciduous shrub or small tree valued for its exceptional fall color, compact size, and toughness. Leaves are three-lobed and medium green in summer, turning brilliant shades of scarlet, crimson, and orange in autumn—often among the brightest of any maple.

It typically develops a multi-stemmed, rounded to spreading habit, though it can be trained to a small single-trunk tree. Growth is moderate, and the plant responds well to pruning.

Amur maple thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts to a wide range of soils, including clay and alkaline conditions, provided drainage is adequate. It is heat tolerant, drought tolerant once established, wind resistant, and urban tolerant. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8.
