Tradescantia 'Sweet Kate'
Sweet Kate Spiderwort
Sweet Kate Spiderwort (Tradescantia ‘Sweet Kate’) pairs bright yellow foliage with violet-blue flowers. The narrow leaves supply color throughout the growing season, so the plant remains a noticeable accent even between flushes of bloom.
Flowers about 1–1½ inches across appear from midsummer into early fall. Its low, compact growth is particularly effective near darker green companions, where the foliage creates a bright patch and the blue blooms add a second layer of color.
Provide fertile soil that stays evenly moist while draining freely. Sun encourages flowers; some afternoon shade is helpful where summers are hot. Cut back flowered stems to encourage fresh growth.
