Tsuga diversifolia
Diversifolia Hemlock
Northern Japanese Hemlock (Tsuga diversifolia) grows slowly and develops a dense, broad crown. Twisting orange-brown shoots add a subtle point of interest within its evergreen framework.
Older trunks show orange-brown bark with shallow cracking. Give the tree a position where both the broad crown and, eventually, the trunk can contribute to the planting rather than being hidden behind other growth.
Grow in sun or partial shade. Choose soil that drains freely and water during establishment.
