Athena lacebark elm, also known as Emer I, forms a rounded crown of dark green leaves. Its peeling bark creates a mottled surface with orange accents. Fall foliage color is usually modest. The cultivar is resistant to Dutch elm disease and elm leaf beetle, though resistance does not make it immune to every pest or disease.
