'Cardinal Candy' Linden Viburnum

Cardinal Candy linden viburnum (Viburnum dilatatum ‘Henneke’) bears creamy white spring flowers followed by a display of bright red berries. Green leaves and well-branched upright growth make it useful beyond its flowering season.

The fruit brings color into fall and can extend the seasonal display into winter. Although it can set fruit alone, a compatible Tandoori Orange viburnum nearby can increase the crop. The ornamental berries are not for human consumption.

Grow in sun or partial shade, ideally in moist, slightly acidic soil. It adapts to several soil types. Prune just after flowering only if needed, recognizing that removing flowering shoots reduces fruit.
