Acer ginnala ‘Flame’ is a selected form of Amur maple prized for its exceptionally intense, fiery red fall color and compact, adaptable habit. Leaves are medium green through summer, then turn brilliant scarlet to crimson in autumn, often coloring earlier and more uniformly than the species.

‘Flame’ typically develops a dense, multi-stemmed, rounded to spreading form, though it can be trained into a small single-trunk tree. Growth is moderate, and it responds well to pruning, making it useful in managed landscapes.

This cultivar thrives in full sun to partial shade and adapts to a wide range of soils, including clay and alkaline soils, as long as drainage is adequate. It is heat tolerant, drought tolerant once established, wind resistant, and urban tolerant. Hardy in USDA Zones 3–8.
