Ralph Shugert Periwinkle (Vinca minor ‘Ralph Shugert’) forms a low evergreen carpet with finely outlined leaves. A slim white edge surrounds each dark green leaf, giving the planting a light, patterned appearance even when flowers are absent.

Deep violet blooms add stronger color above the trailing growth. Stems root as they spread, gradually knitting together into a mat; place it where the edges can be watched and kept within the intended planting area.

Plant in sun or shade in soil that does not become excessively dry. Brighter sites favor flowering. Check the edges regularly because the rooting stems can spread beyond the space allotted.
