'Dark Horse' Weigela

Dark Horse is a compact deciduous weigela whose bronze leaves have contrasting green veins. Purplish-pink tubular flowers stand out against the dark foliage in spring and attract hummingbirds. The plant grows at a moderate rate with a low, spreading outline.

Use it near the front of a border, in a container or as a small foundation shrub. It prefers full sun and well-drained soil. Water regularly while establishing, and prune after the main flowers fade.
