Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Seiryu’ is a unique Japanese maple distinguished as the only truly upright-growing dissectum cultivar. Unlike weeping laceleaf maples, ‘Seiryu’ forms a strongly upright, vase-shaped habit while still displaying finely dissected, lace-like foliage.

Spring foliage emerges fresh bright green, creating a light, airy canopy with excellent texture. Through summer, leaves remain clean green and hold well even in brighter conditions than many dissectum types. In fall, ‘Seiryu’ produces an outstanding display of golden yellow, orange, and fiery red, often with multiple colors appearing at once.

The combination of upright structure and delicate foliage makes ‘Seiryu’ exceptionally versatile in the landscape. It performs best in partial shade, but tolerates more sun than most laceleaf maples when soil moisture is consistent.
