A classic and widely planted tart (sour) cherry cultivar prized for its bright red, juicy fruit with a tart, tangy flavor that is ideal for pies, preserves, juice, and culinary uses. It’s the most commonly grown pie cherry in North America and is often grafted onto dwarf or semidwarf rootstocks (such as Gisela or Colt) to keep tree size manageable for home orchards and small gardens.
